Pre-order: Haltech previewed the Ti8HP at the SEMA Show 2026 and expects to release it in Q1 2027. The exact date is still to be confirmed by Haltech. Pre-orders are filled in the order they are placed once stock is released, and we will email you as soon as Haltech confirms a date.
Run a ZF 8HP behind a Haltech Nexus ECU
The ZF 8HP eight-speed is the automatic everyone wants behind a big-power swap, but getting it to work with a standalone ECU has usually meant extra hardware or third-party reflash software. The Haltech Ti8HP removes that step. It connects a Gen 1 8HP45, 8HP70 or 8HP90 to a drive-by-wire Haltech Nexus ECU, and the gearbox is flashed through the Haltech system itself, with no third-party software or reflash tools needed.
What it does, and what it doesn't
The Ti8HP is a transmission interface, not a transmission controller. The 8HP's own control unit keeps handling the shift logic, while the Ti8HP passes the signals it needs, such as engine torque, between your Nexus ECU and the gearbox. It reads the gearbox's original binary and flashes the Haltech binary through the Haltech system. Out of the box it runs and drives as per factory.
Features
- Plugs into the transmission connector on Nexus Rebel LS, Rebel JZ and Rebel K terminated harnesses, or wires into any other drive-by-wire Nexus ECU or VCU
- No third-party software or reflash tools
- Adjustable prefilled torque table, which sets line pressure and clamping force
- Shift load correction for small shift point adjustments
- Upshift torque reduction for sharper upshifts
- Downshift throttle opening to smooth the rev-matching blip
- Transmission fault codes shown on the ECU
- Separate box on its own CAN bus, so your ECU keeps a spare CAN port for ABS, a BCM or a factory dash
Haltech has also announced trans brake, clutch control and custom shift points as planned additions. No date has been given for these.
Compatibility
Gearboxes: ZF 8HP45, 8HP70 and 8HP90 (Gen 1). Gen 2 support is planned for later, with no date given yet.
ECUs: A drive-by-wire Haltech Nexus with electronic throttle control: Nexus R series, Nexus S series, Nexus Rebel or Nexus Plug-in. Nexus T series ECUs are not supported.
Shifters: Factory BMW F series or G series shifters, the factory Toyota Supra A90 shifter, or wired-in paddle shifters, a CAN keypad or a resistor ladder.
Also required: a brake pedal input wired to the ECU. The 8HP has no one-way clutches, so every downshift needs a throttle blip to match revs. That is why a drive-by-wire throttle is a must.

Frequently asked questions
When will it ship?
Haltech expects to release the Ti8HP in Q1 2027, with the exact date to be confirmed. We will email every pre-order customer when Haltech confirms it.
Does it replace the 8HP's transmission control unit?
No. The factory unit still controls shifting. The Ti8HP is the interface between it and your Haltech ECU.
Will it work with a Nexus T1 or T2?
No. Haltech does not support the T series with the Ti8HP. You need a drive-by-wire Nexus R, S, Rebel or Plug-in ECU.
How do I know if my 8HP is Gen 1?
Check the model on the gearbox ID plate. The 8HP45, 8HP70 and 8HP90 are supported at launch. Later-generation boxes carry different model numbers, such as the 8HP50, 8HP75 and 8HP95, and are not supported yet.
Do I need any extra software?
No. The flashing is done through the Haltech system, with no third-party software or reflash tools.

Not sure which ECU or harness you need?
Haltech's range spans wire-in ECUs, plug-in ECUs, terminated harnesses and plug-and-play kits. The right choice depends on your engine, throttle type (cable or drive-by-wire) and injector connectors.
